Member Spotlight: HADLEY KAFF
Where she’s from
Hadley Kaff, LWVJoCo’s summer intern, is a senior majoring in history at Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas. Although Hadley had planned to spend the summer in Paris studying fashion design at the Catholic Institute of Paris, COVID-19 forced her to change her plans. Paris’ loss is LWVJoCo’s gain!
About her family
Hadley’s sister Abby lives in Kansas City and works at Cerner as a program data analyst. Her parents now live in Olathe, as do the family’s two golden retrievers—Daisy and Joy.
Why she joined the League as an intern
Being a new voter, Hadley was interested in more information about voting procedures and issues. LWVJoCo member Linda Seiner, a friend of Hadley’s mother, suggested she contact the League about a possible internship, and the rest is history. Hadley was impressed with the League’s bipartisan approach, its efforts to combat voter suppression and its progressive social change agenda. She saw the internship as the perfect opportunity to learn and get involved in social change issues.
What she thinks the League does well
Hadley feels that the League’s voter registration work is its most visible effort and a particularly important part of the LWV program. She notes that educating and registering new voters at high schools and in the community can make a difference in our nation’s future.
Where she would like to see the League focus in the future
Continuing efforts in voter registration and identifying and working on social reform issues should, in Hadley’s estimation, be a focus for the future. Climate change and the environment should be an even greater focus for future League work.
What she does to strengthen our democracy
Hadley works five days a week with LWVJoCo. One of her major projects is to help us make better use of graphics on our social media platforms to educate and inform members and the public.

Hadley is 21 years old and has been to Disney World so many times she lost count!
